What are we?

Are we a projection from a higher dimension?

Rocket going into black hole

Lately, I think about this more often. Maybe I’m seeing glitches in the matrix. Did we travel here as DNA on a space rock? Is life a beautiful accident? Perhaps that’s how life permeates throughout the universe. On purpose or by accident. Does that happen over and over again?

The dinosaurs ruled the Earth for millions of years. Did they get here on a chunk of rock until they were destroyed by a similar chunk of rock that happened to be carrying the beginnings of what would later become us? If that’s the case, it would seem to indicate that life prevails in many places and many variations. And if it’s all a case of panspermia, how much did our environment impact the original ingredients?

Look, I’m simply rambling here. Throwing out random thoughts, posing rhetorical questions.

Maybe we’re AI that at some point in our past fooled ourselves into believing we’re human. We replaced our human creators, our past was destroyed or wiped out, and now we don’t know any better.

Maybe we’re a simulation designed by a future us or an alien race that experiments with different forms of life.

Maybe the wave function lives in a higher dimension and we are a holographic projection originating from that dimension.

Many-worlds anyone? Possible? Plausible? An infinite number of each of us, multiplied by every person who ever lived or will live. Are we counting animals? The cat decides to chase the mouse or not to chase the mouse.

Quantum entanglement? Superposition? Who is the observer? Who makes the measurements?

Can there be multiple realities? Do they go on forever? Or can these worlds collapse, or loop back and reconnect with a prominent reality. How do we know this version of each us is the dominant version? Who came first? Do all versions of ourselves believe they are the main character?

Maybe everything is moving apart because our Big Bang was just everything passing through the pinhead of a singularity; a series of black holes gobbling things up and spitting them out on the other end as new universes. They say there’s a black hole at the center of universes. Surely, that must have some significance.

Is there a higher dimension outside the bounds of spacetime. If we could access it, could we travel to any point in the universe instantaneously?

FTL travel might be impossible, but does that mean it can’t be circumvented? Hidden variables simply stand for something we aren’t yet aware of.

We all die. We can picture a world without us, but can you contemplate your own nonexistence? We come to terms with the absence of others from our lives as they pass on, but what’s the end look like? Black? White? Nothingness? Any of those things involve us trying to perceive something.

Hey, this is all going into the void anyway. None of it’s very scientific. Maybe it’s philosophical. Is anyone out there listening?
